Our Global Advisory Board

1/3

Board Members

Mark Troop, renowned pianist and internationally respected music educator, now serves on the Global Advisory Board of Vivek Music Academy. Known for his work in performance, pedagogy, and cross-cultural music initiatives, Mark brings deep artistic insight and academic leadership to the academy’s vision.

Mark Troop (UK)

Mark Troop is a distinguished British pianist, broadcaster, and founder of The Chamber Music Company — known for pioneering cross-genre music experiences. He has launched acclaimed festivals like the CMC Summer Solstice, Latin American Roadshow, and the Rare Music Series, and ensembles such as Yin Yang Collective and Tango 44, blending classical, jazz, and global traditions.

Together with his wife, celebrated soprano Patricia Rozario, Mark co-founded the Giving Voice Society to train emerging Indian vocalists. In 2014, he became a lecturer at Goa University, and a year later, co-founded In Good Form with pianist Parvesh Java to train the next generation of Indian pianists and educators.

He inaugurated the refurbished Royal Opera House, Mumbai, and has since staged two operas there, while also co-curating the Da Capo Sammelan festival in Goa.

A former professor at Guildhall School and St. Paul’s Boys School, and currently a visiting lecturer at Christ University in Bangalore, Mark brings exceptional artistic and educational insight to his advisory role at Vivek Music Academy.

Silvija Radjen Kumar (Croatia)

Silvija Radjen Kumar is an award-winning Western classical vocalist whose performances span opera, art song, and oratorio across some of Europe and India’s most distinguished stages. A graduate of the Music Academy in Ljubljana, Slovenia, she trained under celebrated soprano Theresa Plut and quickly gained international acclaim with First Prizes at the Bruna Spiler and Lav Mirski International Singing Competitions. She also received both the Special Prize and Best Repertoire Prize at the ArtSong Opus International Competition.

With commanding artistry and expressive clarity, Silvija has portrayed a wide range of leading operatic roles — including Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Calisto in Cavalli’s La Calisto, and most recently, the title role of Dido in Dido and Aeneas in London (May 2025). Her deep musicality, particularly in Baroque and Classical repertoire, is matched by a rare interpretive sensitivity that resonates across borders.

Silvija has performed extensively throughout Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Austria, Hungary, Italy, the UK, and India. She continues her artistic evolution under the guidance of globally renowned mezzo-soprano Sonia Prina and American soprano Adrienne Chandhok.

As a member of Vivek Music Academy’s Global Advisory Board, Silvija brings a wealth of vocal expertise, stage experience, and pedagogical insight. Her passion for artistic excellence and global collaboration makes her an invaluable mentor for the next generation of Indian vocalists.

Darius Farhoumand (USA)

Darius Farhoumand is an accomplished bassoonist and educator based at the Yale School of Music, where he earned Master of Music and Master of Musical Arts degrees under renowned bassoonist Frank Morelli. He also holds a Bachelor of Music and a Master’s in Music Education from New York University, along with a Pre-K–12 teaching certification.

As a performer, Darius has appeared at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and he has toured across North America and Europe, from Montreal to Budapest. At Yale, he performs regularly with the Yale Philharmonia, New Music New Haven, and chamber music series.

As a teacher, Darius combines his standards for artistic excellence with a deep commitment to music education. As International Advisor and Woodwinds Specialist at Vivek Music Academy, he brings depth in pedagogy, and a collaborative spirit to help shape the Academy’s expanding vision for music training in India.

Albin Axelsson (SE)

Albin Axelsson is one of the most promising Swedish pianists of his generation. As a soloist, he has performed major concertos by Chopin, Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, and Mozart with leading ensembles including the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and Norrlandsoperans Symphony Orchestra.

He has earned multiple accolades, including First Prize at both the Gothenburg International Piano Competition (2021) and the Aarhus Royal Academy of Music Soloist Competition (2023). In 2024, he received the prestigious Swedish Royal Academy of Music’s National Scholarship, awarded to a few outstanding pianists each year.

Albin has appeared at renowned festivals across the Nordic countries, Hungary, and Italy, including OPUS Aarhus, Gothenburg Piano Festival, and Helsingborg Piano Festival. He is also an active composer and chamber musician, with recent highlights including the Haydn Festival in Copenhagen and collaborations with members of the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra.

As a passionate educator, Albin has led lectures and masterclasses in Europe and India. He currently studies in the Soloist Class at the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus, and has trained with renowned pianists such as Dina Yoffe, Kate Liu, and Zlata Chochieva.

Now a Global Advisor to Vivek Music Academy, Albin brings a rich blend of international artistry, creative vision, and a deep commitment to musical education.
